ST. PAUL, Minn. – Xcel Energy is asking state regulators to approve a 21 percent electric rate increase over three years — more than half of it in 2022 — with a big part of it going for transmission lines to connect to renewable sources.
It’s estimated that residential customers would see an average monthly increase of 15- to 21-dollars. Xcel is asking the Public Utilities Commission to okay a nine-point-four-percent interim rate increase, which would take effect in January while the agency considers the utility’s larger request.
