Eighth-year NFL veteran Billy Turner recorded a strong performance, rookie Trey Lance scored a rushing touchdown, and linebacker Derrek Tuszka was added to the active roster by the Pittsburgh Steelers, headlining the performances of former North Dakota State football players in the NFL in Week 3.
With 10 former Bison active in the league, NDSU has more NFL players than any other Division I FCS program.
Lance added a one-yard touchdown run to go with his first career passing TD from Week 1. Tuszka made his first appearance for the Steelers after spending his rookie season with the Denver Broncos. He was elevated from the practice squad to play in Sunday’s game, recorded two tackles in significant playing time, and then was officially added to Pittsburgh’s active roster on Tuesday this week.
Second-year tight end Ben Ellefson logged 30 offensive snaps in Minnesota’s win – marking 40 percent of the Vikings’ offensive plays and the most offensive snaps of Ellefson’s young career.
