HUNTER, N.D. (KFGO) – A man and woman from Devils Lake were killed in a multi-vehicle crash south of Hunter Saturday afternoon.
They’re identified as 82-year-old Richard Nelson, one of the drivers, and a passenger in his vehicle, 69-year old Marilyn Sandbeck.
The State Patrol says an SUV was northbound on Highway 18 and waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway when it was rear-ended by a pickup. The impact pushed the SUV into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Nelson. His vehicle was pushed into a ditch. The SUV ended up on its side. The driver of that vehicle, 39-year old Amy Ulmer and two passengers, ages 5 and 8, all of Wheatland, North Dakota were injured. The five-year old was airlifted to Sanford Health in Fargo in serious condition.The other occupants were transported by ambulance to Fargo and are in stable condition.
The driver of the pickup, 43-year old Jason Olsonoski, of Moorhead, had minor injuries.
All vehicles were totaled. The crash remains under investigation.
