BROOKINGS, S.D. – Elise Hoven cracked the top three in her collegiate debut to guide North Dakota State to a second place finish at the Jackrabbit Intercollegiate presented by Sun Mountain at Brookings Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
After having to finish the second round due to rain and darkness on day one, NDSU assembled rounds of 301, 303 and 301 for a three-round score of 905. It marked the lowest 54-hole tournament round since 2015 when the Bison shot 901 at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. South Dakota State took the top spot with three-round score of 895, while CSU Fullerton closed out the top three with a score of 906.
Hoven paced the Bison posting rounds of 73, 75 and 76 for a three-round score of 224 to finish tied for third place. Lexi Geolat, who connected on a tournament-best nine birdies, came in tied for fifth place with a score of 225, while Leah Skaar registered a tied for 10th place finish with a score of 229. Maddie Herzog posted a tied for 21st place finish with a three-round score of 232 and delivered a team-best 37 pars. Taylor McCorkle rounded out the group tied for 23rd with a score of 233.
Catherine Monty competed as an individual and posted a three-round score of 231 to finish tied for 16th place. Ava Wallerich also played as an individual and came in tied for 56th place with a score of 247.
As a team, NDSU tallied 167 pars and 24 birdies. The average score over three rounds of play was 79.04.
NDSU will be back in action next week at the Coeur D’Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. The three-day tournament begins Sunday and wraps up Tuesday at Coeur D’Alene Resort Golf Course.
