KEY WEST, FL. – A 22-year-old Minnesota man is in a Florida jail after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
The incident happened Monday night in the Florida Keys after Gavin Hill allegedly raced away from a traffic stop in Key Largo on U-S Highway One. Hill led Monroe County deputies on a chase while speeding and driving the wrong way. When he crashed into another vehicle, he ran into a wooded area before finally giving up.
Deputies found marijuana and ammunition in the car, which had been stolen in Pompano Beach — about 200 miles away.
