Gov. Tim Walz and Senator Amy Klobuchar visit the Greenwood Fire (Governor Tim Walz)
ISABELLA, Minn. – Minnesota’s governor and two U-S senators traveled north Monday to survey the Greenwood fire.
The wildfire has been burning near Isabella in Lake County for more than three weeks. Governor Tim Walz and Senators Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar received updates from U-S Forest Service officials, then took time to speak with firefighters and survey the destruction.
The Greenwood fire has forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents and destroyed more than a dozen homes or cabins. Fire crews hope to have it contained by the end of the week, but it could continue to burn for months.
