BARNESVILLE, Minn. (KFGO) – A boil water advisory has been lifted in Barnesville.
A lightning strike Saturday night caused a temporary outage in the city water system. The strike caused high service pumps to shut down and resulted in taking the water tower offline.
That could’ve lead to potential contamination of the water system.
As a precaution, the boil water advisory was issued. Minnesota Department of Health officials took water samples Sunday and has now told the city that the water is safe.
Until the test results were back, residents were advised to boil their water for a full minute before drinking or brushing their teeth.
