Red Lake, MN (KFGO KNOX) – Police say Conservation Officer Shannon “Opie” Barron died Sunday night after suffering a medical emergency following a call for service in northern Minnesota.
Barron was called to an incident north of Red Lake that involved suspected illegal harvesting.
Barron later requested emergency medical service and life-saving measures were performed until Barron was taken to the Red Lake Indian Health Service Hospital where he died.
Barron served 19 years with the Red Lake Department of Public Safety. An autopsy will be performed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
Barron was 48.
