Carroll A. Olson was born on August 31, 1932, to Carl and Cecilia Olson in Moorhead, MN. Carroll attended school in Felton, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1951. After graduating, Carroll served as a proud member of the National Guard. He was stationed in Ozark, AL, until he was discharged in 1953. Carroll returned to Moorhead and attended Moorhead State College and then the Minneapolis (MN) School of Art & Design.
Carroll met Elaine DeVries while working at the FM Hotel and they married in 1957. Together they raised five children until her passing in 1998. Carroll was a dedicated father who never missed a special event and always put his family first.
Carroll loved working in sales and spent most of his career working as a Regional Sales Manager at H.B. Fuller. He loved spending time at the lake with his family and thoroughly enjoyed drawing, sculpture, slot cars, shooting, and everything about the old west.
In October of 2004, Carroll was blessed to meet his current wife, Blanche Gruenberg. They married in October 2006, and he gained three children and six grandchildren that he loved. Carroll and Blanche enjoyed travelling, going to the lake, and spending time with all of their children and grandchildren.
Carroll passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at River Pointe in Moorhead, at the age of 88.
Carroll is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Cecilia Olson; wife, Elaine (DeVries) Olson; brother, Arnold Olson; son-in-law, Stirling Callander; and great-granddaughter, Emma Olson.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Blanche; son, Jeffrey (Nancy) Olson; daughters, Julie (John) Haehn, Jennifer (John) Polz, Jolene (Brian) Lambrecht, and Jill Callander; stepsons, Scott (Janet) Gruenberg and Shawn (Steph) Gruenberg; stepdaughter, Kristin (Cal) Braun; along with 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Carroll was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.
A visitation for Carroll will be on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 5 PM – 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 1:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead.
