Amanda Leavy
ORISKA, ND (KFGO) – A 35-year-old Jamestown woman is facing numerous charges after she assaulted a state trooper before two other people stepped in.
The trooper had responded to a report of a reckless driver and saw the car in the parking lot of the I-94 Oriska rest stop. The trooper was attempting to get the woman out of the car when she put the car in reverse and began dragging him. He was able to put the vehicle in park. The patrol says 35-year-old Amanda Leavy tried to disarm the officer before two bystanders stepped in to help.
Leavy was under the influence of methamphetamine and was driving a car stolen in Minnesota earlier this month. The trooper was treated for minor injuries at the hospital in Valley City.
Leavy was taken to the Stutsman County Jail in Jamestown.
