For this recipe, I’m using some turkey I smoked this summer that I had in my freezer.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 can Grands Southern style biscuits
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 cups minced onion or shallot
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1 10oz can chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked turkey
- 2 cups frozen vegetables
- * 1/8 tsp poultry seasoning, pinch of thyme
Bake the biscuits as directed on the package.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and saute the onions until tender. Stir in the flour and cook 1 minute. Increase the heat to medium high, and whisk in the chicken broth. Let the mixture come to a boil to thicken up. Reduce the heat to medium low and stir in the cream, salt, pepper, turkey and vegetables.
Serve the Turkey a la king over the biscuits.
I cooked the veggies in the microwave and warmed up the turkey before adding them to the sauce.
*I used turkey that was smoked and seasoned. If your turkey is regular Thanksgiving turkey, add the poultry seasoning and thyme.
As a side note, I vacuum seal all my leftovers from smoking meat. The best way I have found to reheat the meat is to leave it in the sealed bag, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the bag to the water and be sure to submerge it. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let sit for 30 minutes. The meat will be warm and juicy when you remove it from the bag.
