I’ve always appreciated the fact racing, rodeo, and even golf the winners get paid. I know there are sponsorships and endorsement deals regardless if they win or not. But for the most part. If you win the race, ride the bull, shoot the lowest score you’ll earn more than the rest.
Winning matters. It should and it does.
How many times do you hear fans express disdain and frustration over a quarterback or pitcher getting rich with a losing record or under performing. As good as Joe Mauer was his final years many fans were frustrated with the injuries and lack of production for the millions of dollars he was earning.
In world where Kirk Cousins keeps getting multi-million dollar contracts for not winning Super Bowls. As good as Zach Parise has been he was a healthy scratch for three playoff games and wasn’t on the ice until an injury. His contract? To the tune of $10million.
