BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota’s quiet influenza season is winding down. Case counts this flu season pales in comparison to last year’s record-setting event. The state health department has confirmed 193 total cases to date. There were 12,489 during the 2019-20 season.
A total of 194,763 North Dakota adults received a flu shot. That’s over ten thousand more than one year ago.
Health officials say the flu virus spreads through respiratory droplets. The messaging of wearing masks…social distancing…and hand hygiene as a result of COVID-19 may have contributed to lower numbers this year.
