FARGO (KFGO) – A long-standing dispute between the City of Fargo and the Fargo Municipal Airport Authority appears to be over.
Both have agreed to begin the process for a separation of the two entities. If the process is successful by the end of this year, employees of the Airport Authority will no longer be City Employees and will become full Airport employees.
The Airport Authority, the board that manages Hector International Airport, would also then take over services and responsibilities now handled by the city of Fargo. That would include financial services, payroll, and other human resource materials.
By the middle of April, the Airport Authority will provide the city with a detailed plan containing the timeline for the transition of those services.
More than a year ago, some city commissioners discussed the possibility of dissolving the Airport Authority and take control if an agreement could not be reached in a feud over an agreement dating back to 1969.
