MINOT, N.D. – Cole Slaubaugh scored a tournament-high 27 points in Rugby’s 74-65 over Powers Lake in the Class B boys basketball consolation semifinals on Friday afternoon.
Slaubaugh made 4 three-pointers and shot 11-16 from beyond the arc. Trey Welstad added 21 points and Warren Walker chipped in 16 points for Rugby.
The Panthers shot 12-12 from the free-throw line.
Tyson Engel and Noah Fredrickson scored 19 points apiece for Powers Lake.
The Ranchers (22-4 overall) will play in the seventh-place game for the second time in three years.
Rugby (19-8 overall) will play in the consolation championship at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday from the Minot State Dome.
