MINOT, N.D. – Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier hung onto a 67-63 win over the Rugby Panthers in the Class B boys basketball quarterfinals from the Minot State Dome on Thursday.
E-K-M held a 37-23 lead at the half, only to see the Panthers start the third quarter on a 7-0 and trim the lead down to 3 with 31.2 seconds left to play in regulation.
Alex Huber iced the game with a steal and two free-throws late in the fourth quarter for the Rebels. Huber tailed a team-high 17 points, while Jorgen Paulson added 15 points and Pax Mathern hit 3 three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Warren Walked scored a game-high 25 points and went 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for Rugby.
E-K-M (23-2 overall) will play Grafton in the semifinals on Friday at 6:30 p.m. from the Minot State Dome.
Rugby (18-8 overall) will play Powers Lake in the consolation semifinals at noon.
