CLOQUET, MINN. – A suspect in a double homicide in Cloquet, Minnesota was arrested Sunday night after an extensive search following the killing of a 27-year old woman and an 18-month old boy.
The victims were found Saturday afternoon, in a home in Cloquet on the Fond Du Lac Reservation. The names of the victims are being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin. It is believed the victims and the suspect, 33-year old Sheldon Thompson, had a relationship or otherwise knew each other.
Authorities arrested Thompson after a search involving a helicopter and a police dog. He was found in the woods in a rural area of the reservation. Cloquet is about 20 miles west of Duluth.
He was treated and cleared from a hospital for exposure to the cold and then booked into the Carlton County Jail facing two counts of second-degree homicide. No weapons were found on Thompson when he was arrested.
