SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (NDSU Athletics) – North Dakota State’s Akealy Moton captured February Summit League Athlete of the Month honors across all sports, league officials announced Wednesday. Moton set the all-time Summit League indoor shot put record at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 13 and won a conference title in the event on Feb. 28.
Moton’s impressive monthly credentials included her record-breaking shot put of 59-3 (18.06m) to win the Iowa State Classic. She capped the month with a Summit League Championship record throw of 56-11.25 (17.35m), and also earned a seventh-place finish in the weight throw at the league meet.
The West Fargo, N.D., native qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put and ranks third nationally in the event.
