FARGO, N.D. – Central Cass came into tonight’s game against Maple Valley having lost two of their last three games, and the Squirrels were looking to get back to their winning ways in Casselton against the Raiders. From the opening tip, it was clear Central Cass was hungry for a win and their defense came to play. They finished the first quarter of play having allowed Maple Valley to score only three total points. From that point forward, it was smooth sailing for the Squirrels en route to a dominant 65-36 victory.
Central Cass was led by senior forward Joshua Dixon, who scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Freshman Cole Holzer also reached a double-digit scoring total with 10 points of his own. The Squirrels also spread the love tonight, with nine players getting into the scoring column.
Despite the lopsided final score, Maple Valley had a few shining moments in tonight’s game with sophomore Caleb Kocka and junior Evan Richman scoring 11 points each. Five-foot-three-inch 8th grader Carter Baasch also made an impact on tonight’s game with 7 rebounds, 3 of which came on the offensive end.
This win brings Central Cass to 14-4 overall, and 8-2 in Region 1 play. This loss drops Maple Valley to 5-13 overall and 1-8 within Region 1. The Raider’s next game will be at home against Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah-Rosholt on Friday. The Squirrel’s next game will be on Saturday against Sargent County.
