ST. PAUL, MINN. – Amid concerns about coronavirus, Minnesota health officials are asking the legislature to bolster a public health contingency fund.
Minnesota Health Department Commissioner Jan Malcolm told a state senate committee Thursday morning that Governor Tim Walz calls this a very high priority, “job one” for protecting citizens.
The Department of Health is asking for nearly $21 million in new funding to support staffing, disease investigation, monitoring, lab analysis, public information, and statewide response coordination.
