GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Kansas City Kangaroos returned to Summit League action for the first time since 2013.
Kansas City left the Western Athletic Conference for the Summit League in June and opened with a 71-67 win from the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center on Saturday afternoon.
Naomie Alnatas scored a game-high 21 points and 7 rebounds for the Kangaroos.
Julia Fleecs, Jaclyn Jarnot and Megan Zander all recorded double-doubles in the loss for North Dakota. Fleecs had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Jarnot added 18 points and 13 rebounds with Zander finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Kansas City (4-3 overall, 1-0 Summit League) is scheduled to host South Dakota on January 8 for their next contest.
North Dakota (0-7 overall, 0-1 Summit League) travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a date with Oral Roberts on January 8.
