With gusty winds and low humidity expected Friday afternoon in southwest Minnesota, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch. This alert means critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
Counties in the Fire Weather Watch include:
Brown, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Jackson, Lac Qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Stevens, Swift, Watonwan, and Yellow Medicine.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please stay tuned for possible forecast and alert updates, including Red Flag Warnings.
The Fire Weather Watch is in effect Friday until 6 p.m.
