Chris Potter is the Student Resource Officer in the Maple Valley School District, as well as, the President of the North Dakota Association of School Resource Officers (NDASRO).
Chris has been working for over a year to organize the ND School Safety Conference and invited IT2 along for the ride.
Deputy Chris Potter quoted Dr. David Flowers (West Fargo Superintendent) once and said, “School safety doesn’t happen by accident. It costs money and time.” This quote is echoed by the more than 200 law enforcement officers, school administrators, state representatives and more that attended the 2018 North Dakota School Safety Conference.
Vendors were on hand showing off their devices and services to help turn classrooms into fortresses, national speakers shared their opinion and insight on subjects such as bullying and self-esteem and Senator Heidi Heitkamp addressed the room and took questions from attendees.
Chris talks about the future and how events like the school shooting in Parkland, FL have put school safety in the forefront of people’s minds. The ND School Safety Conference touches on the need for lawmakers, law officers and the public to look at how we can keep our children safe going forward.
