“Fargo Fridays” during It Takes 2 is a segment where Amy & JJ call-up another Fargo and introduce themselves – and the community of Fargo, North Dakota!
In this podcast: Hanaba Welch, whose family has roots to Fargo, Texas dating back to the early 1900’s, joins us to give us a look at the town she calls “just a dot on the map”.
Today, not much stands on the streets of Fargo, Texas. But, Hanaba paints a great picture of the community through this interview and the photos shared, take a look:

Hanaba’s family started Fargo’s cotton gin (pictured above) in the early 1900’s
Here is the bloom on a cotton plant (above) that’s growing at the gin below the bin that catches seed. Also visible, a green boll.
Fargo Church of the Christ (pic above). Fargo Methodist Church is 2 miles away. There’s a marker – a mile from Fargo – to mark the sit of Fargo Baptist Church, no longer there but well remembered.
Fargo United Methodist Church (pic above) is just two miles from Fargo, Texas. Just across the highway is the school…
Northside School (pictured above). In 1937, five country schools, including Fargo School, consolidated to form Northside School.
Red ant bed near the cotton gin (pic above). The red ants help keep the fire ants away (supposedly). Horned toads eat red ants.
Pumping unit in the Fargo oil field (above). In the distance is a line of trees planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps about 1940 to help stop wind erosion. The Dust Bowl Era wasn’t a good time for Fargo but the dust storms were even worse in other parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
A roadrunner sits in a mesquite tree in Fargo, Texas (picture above). The bird made an appearance during this interview on Friday, August 24, 2018. He was pursued by Hanaba (our interviewee) as he ran up a few limbs and found a place to perch.
Visitors to Fargo, Texas can stop at the gin office anytime for a 50-cent soft drink or water from the fountain (pic above). The closest restaurants are 10 miles away in Vernon, Texas.
