Megan Myrdal is the Family Nutrition Program Agent with the NDSU County Extension Service and Staci Loegering the Executive Director of the Emergency Food Pantry and they join IT2 to discuss the need to address hunger in our communities, even though it often goes unseen.
When you create a picture of someone in your mind who is suffering from hunger, we often create an unhealthy, emaciated and sickly person. This visual is, most often, in correct. It’s hard to see hunger, but it is closer than you think.
Megan and Staci share some sobering statistics about those individuals and families living in below the poverty line.
In September, aka Hunger Action Month, their group has a few events planned that welcome the community into the conversation.
On Friday, September 7th at Theatre B in Moorhead, MN – folks are invited to take part in a panel featuring hunger experts and volunteers from around the community. The event starts at 8am and is a free event.
On Sunday, September 9th at The Fargo Theater in Fargo, ND – residents from across the region are invited to a free screening of the documentary “A Place at the Table” which follows the lives of three people dealing with the issue of hunger in their everyday lives.
