Jessica Baumgartner is an Occupational Therapist who can walk into an office and asses whether or not your desk chair is providing the right amount of lumbar support. If it’s not, that nasty twinge in your back may have an easy solution. Or who about shoulder pain? That could be from staring downward at a computer monitor.

So now that you have the cause, what is the solution? Good news for business owners, the North Dakota Work Safety and Insurance program has a grant available to aid in ergonomic updates to your business. If you don’t already know, grant means they provide the funding!
“Program Overview
North Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance (WSI) has seen a steady number of ergonomic related injuries each year and we are focused on preventative measures, rather than post-injury, to assist employers in controlling these costs. Cumulative trauma injuries (including strains) have accounted for approximately 35% of all reported claims in North Dakota over the past 5 years.
WSI’s Ergonomic Initiative Grant Program provides employers resources, including financial assistance, to address ergonomic issues. The purpose of the program is to reduce or eliminate cumulative-type injuries at the workplace. What typically begins as minor aches or pains, if ignored, has potential to develop into costly claims.”

ProRehab provides a great initial consultation and can help your business through the process. Jessica is not just from ProRehab, she is a pro at the WSI Ergonomic grant as well.
The amount of money and time you can save by providing health based changes to your business add up quickly. A healthy employee can work harder and more efficiently when they are not worrying about a prolonged elbow injury or neck fatigue.
