Cass County has a goal of 300,000 sandbags, with the focus of those sandbags to be used outside of Fargo city limits. And, with the goal of 300,000, they estimate they will need 60-70 volunteers each day.
Jason Benson, Cass County Engineer, will be the incident commander at their sandbagging location at the Cass County Highway Shop: 1201 Main Avenue West in West Fargo between Wednesday, March 27th and Friday, April 5th.
Over the next week, rural schools, boy scouts and businesses will be pitching in to help fill sandbags. However, Benson says their biggest needs for volunteers are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This is the only sandbag operation supporting rural Cass County. If your property has benefited from County flood protection in the past – or if you anticipate needing County flood protection – please consider assisting.
Interested volunteers or flood related information can be found by calling the Cass County Flood hotline: 701-241-8000.
