Larry Magid, the man behind

and CBS Tech correspondent, was asked a simple question, “Is National Screen-Free Week even possible?” His answer is a series of variables. Ultimately, no. We rely on too many screen based options. WiFi runs complete aspects of our lives. For example, Larry drives a Tesla. This uses a screen as the main interface. Can he still use the vehicle? Or his microwave? Or his work computer?
But…if you think about it, that’s not what Screen-Free Week is about. It’s about disconnecting from our devices and being more present in our lives and the lives of those around us.
They should call it “National (Prioritize Everything But Your) Screen Week.” Making sure you are at family dinners and looking at your loved ones rather than checking your work email or the latest Instagram update.
