We’ve all experienced a headache when it comes to parking in downtown Fargo. You drive and drive, you can’t find a space…but if we break down the real scenario…we couldn’t find a space ON Broadway. Hundreds of open spaces in ramps, surface lots and on the street exist a half a block away. We are just too stubborn to admit that we forget about the other spaces.
That being said, downtown Fargo can still learn and grow with the times. We are about to add a giant high rise downtown that will be bringing more traffic into downtown and the public wants to know there is a plan.

That’s where the Fargo Parking Commission comes in. This group of business and civic leaders address the needs of the downtown community as they make recommendations for policy like parking restrictions, time limits, ticketing, etc.
“The Parking Commission’s mission is to “manage, provide, promote and maintain safe, convenient, accessible, attractive and reasonably priced parking facilities that will meet the need of downtown businesses, employers, residents, and visitors”.
One of those discussion is this: No more overnight parking on Broadway during the winter. Take a breath. Look at it from a business and city stand point. Clearing the snow during the winter months can be a giant undertaking and, at best, leaves us with snow ridges between the spaces and the sidewalk. They are dangerous and look awful.
(Melissa Rademacher – Executive Director DCP Fargo)
This is just an idea right now – so voice your opinion! These are the conversations that we use to keep our downtown space vibrant and exciting. They are called GROWING pains for a reason and Fargo should address them head on.
