Too Tall Tom comes into the KFGO Studio to talk weather with IT2!
Did you know there are “heliophobs” living among us? That is, those people who fear the sun!
It’s not a good time of year for them, but for the rest of us, we are finally enjoying what feels like the peak of summer.
Wind
While it feels like Fargo is the windiest place to live… this is the point in our calendar year when we (usually) have the least.
From about the end of July to the beginning of September, statistically speaking, it is least windy. You can expect more wind in the spring and the fall. The contrast in temperatures during the spring and fall will create bigger storms and, therefore, bigger winds.
“It’s not windy at night”
It can be windy at night, but if there are not high or low pressure systems, the wind will go down at night. The sun can “mix up the atmosphere” and make it windier during the day.
Listen to the podcast above for more information about straight line winds vs. gusts and a lesson on cloud formations!
