No Officer, No Problem
As of August 1st, 2019, flaggers on construction sites in Minnesota are able to take down the information of law-breakers and turn it over to law enforcement.
The bill was written and based off of a similar law that exists for bus drivers.
In this podcast: Ken Johnson, from MnDOT, joins IT2 to discuss.
Johnson says, “Our flaggers are one of the more vulnerable people on a work-site.” If a driver ignores the stop sign or, even worse, isn’t paying attention, it can be frustrating and put everyone at risk.
Law enforcement will have to find the person who’s been reported within 4 hours. If they officers are able to locate the vehicle, they are able to issue a fine up to $300.
And, remember, Minnesota now also has a “hands-free” law!
