Are you discharging your sump pump into your lawn or garden? Water is water, right? WRONG! Dave advises that the water discharged by your sump pump contains high level of salt and this can be very bad for plants and grass. Stop discharging into your lawn immediately and run the hose all the way to the curb. Rain water will naturally wash out the area with clean water – so give it time to breath before ripping up sections of lawn completely.
If you have tomato blight this year, the cause may be that you planted too tight. Next year, be sure to plat with cages so the vines go up and leave plenty of space. The space allows air flow to dry out the moisture on leaves. You will see a HUGE improvement next year if blight was an issue this year.
If you have vines strangling a tree or bush, track the vine all the way to the ground, clip it off and apply a herbicide to the direct stalk. After that, remove the vines from the tree or bush. Warning, you will probably be in for some work if you have a low hanging evergreen that is hosting this pesky vine!
