“It’s an adventure”
Nancy Jurgens Aughinbaugh has been in the travel business for 39 years… and has only sent 1 person to Antarctica. However, she’s prepared for that to change. SHe says inquiries about travel to Antarctica has grown exponentially in the last 3 years and she is even planning on taking a group herself to the continent in 2021.
Most travel to the continent is done by ship (some of which, Nancy notes, can cut through ice) and isn’t for the traveler seeking leisure and comfort. Nancy says, “it’s an adventure”.
Antarctica has proven to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for open-minded individuals. The continent’s landscape is often described as magical, surreal, unforgettable, and a glimpse of nature in its purest form. There are no tourist shops, restaurants, or places to get a tan. Antarctica provides only scenic beauty, looming ice carvings, and select animal inhabitants. Its appeal lies in its unparalleled setting and atmosphere that have been a mystery to humans for centuries. (
