Don Haney and Al Aamodt describe the late Vince Lindstrom as “a reporter’s dream.” Always looking outside the box to engage the world outside Fargo. His passion for this region showed in all that he did to promote tourism, growth and fun.

Don Haney mentions a story where Yogi Berra was in town and casually mentioned that potatoes were one of his favorite foods. Vince found a creative way to thank him for the visit by sending over 20 tons of potatoes from the Red River Valley across the country to Berra’s home. He also helped organize the eventual delivery of these potatoes to area food kitchens that made use of the generous gift from the Upper Midwest.
Al Aamodt remembers another instance that made national news. Several flights were grounded at Hector International Airport and Vince acted quickly to make fruit baskets filled with treats from our region and handed them out to the temporarily stranded passengers. Turning a headache into a fond memory for hundreds of travelers that day.
Both men note that Vince didn’t have any bad blood with anyone. He was the type of individual that you wanted to represent your town. He was one in a million.
KFGO staff, administration and listeners would like to give their sympathies to Vince’s family and thank them for sharing him with us for all these years.
