Reuben Tschritter, 89, of West Fargo, ND, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior with his dearly loved wife beside him, on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, ND.
Reuben Tschritter was born on March 12, 1937, one of 13 children, to Edward and Lydia ( Kiemele) Tschritter, in Linton, ND. Reuben went to school in Linton, graduating in 1955. After high school he joined the United States Army where he spent 24 months in Germany, using all his breaks to spend time with his dad’s family who remained in Germany after Ed left alone and came to the USA 108 years ago. After Reuben was honorably discharged from the Army, he went on to attend college at NDSU, becoming a mechanical engineer. He went on to work for IBM as a mechanical engineer and was soon promoted into a manager’s position over seeing a very large group. After retiring from IBM, he took a job in a new startup department at NDSU. He loved this job working with small businesses and inventors in North Dakota, his home state.
On December 27, 1961, Reuben was united in marriage to Verda Job, the love of his life, in First Baptist Church, Linton. Together they have one son, Timothy “Tim” who made Reuben a very loving and proud father. They made their home in Fargo, Los Gatos, CA, and Rochester, MN. Reuben was very active in serving his Lord. Probably, most blessed when he was chosen to be Corrie Ten Boom’s chaperone whenever she came to the Mayo Clinic.
Reuben had a love for all Bison sports. He also enjoyed deer hunting in Northern Minnesota, with his son. He also enjoyed traveling a lot. He traveled all over for work, including going to every continent aside from Africa and Antarctica. His favorite place to travel was Germany, Switzerland, Italy. Many times, he would take Tim and Verda along. Verda was blessed to make many trips to Germany with Reuben. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he could spend with his family and friends.
Reuben is survived by his wife of 64 years, Verda; son, Timothy and wife Samantha, Simpsonville, SC; granddaughters, Kaylynn, Kelly, and Trinity, all of Simpsonville, SC; sister, Donna and husband Don Job; sisters-in-law, Jan Tschritter, and Linda Tschritter; brothers-in-law, Elmer Wagner, and Elmer Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews.
