FARGO (KFGO) – A Sunday afternoon fire significantly damaged a three-unit rented house in Fargo, displacing all residents and killing two pets.
Firefighters were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. to the property at 1119 10th Ave. N. Crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor, prompting a second alarm. Firefighters extinguished the blaze about 10 minutes after arriving.
All occupants evacuated the structure safely before fire crews arrived, and no human injuries were reported. However, two pets, a cat and a chinchilla, died in the fire.
All three units sustained significant smoke and fire damage, leaving every resident displaced. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with five engines, one ladder truck and two command vehicles. The Fargo Police Department, Sanford Ambulance and the Salvation Army assisted.
