BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong had a humorous response to an article in The Onion with the headline “North Dakota Apologizes For Contributing Nothing To Nation’s Greatness”.
The satirical news site said “North Dakota lacked any rich cultural legacy of its own, aside from the fact that Chuck Klosterman grew up there before eventually moving away.”
Klosterman is the author of several books including Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto.
The story claimed to have quoted Armstrong as saying “We know some people might say, ‘Well, at least you’ve got Mount Rushmore,’ but nope, that’s South Dakota. The movie Fargo? That was all the Coen brothers.”
KFGO News actually reached out to Armstrong for a response to The Onion’s story.
“Chuck Klosterman is a national treasure, and we have been protecting South Dakota from a Canadian invasion since 1889,” Armstrong wrote.
