MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Bail is set for a Moorhead man accused of setting an apartment on fire during an argument on Saturday morning.
Thirty-four-year-old Alexey Schreiner is charged with two counts of 1st degree arson.
Bail was set at $50,000 with conditions.
According to court documents, Schreiner believed his girlfriend was hiding a man in her apartment and that she was cheating on him.
She denied the allegations.
He set a box of her clothes on fire in the dining room and then lit the couch on fire.
The victim got the fires out with water and called 911, but there was still smoke in the unit after they were extinguished.
Schreiner left the apartment but was tracked down by police and arrested.
They say he admitted to starting the fire.
It caused fire and smoke damage to the victim’s apartment.
Moorhead Fire Department arrived on scene to ventilate the smoke.
