After over 50 years of contributions to KFGO Radio, longtime host of “Plant Talk”, Horticulturalist Dave Decock is stepping away from the microphone. He has been a staple of KFGO Radio… providing hundreds of hours of great lawn and garden advice! (Listen to his last “Plant Talk” below.)
Dave started his time on KFGO while he was a 4-H Extension Agent in Ada, MN in 1976. As he recalls, to be on the air with Bev Walters!
He grew up near Wadena, MN and spent 6 months in the Navy before returning to the area for college – attending both Moorhead State University and North Dakota State University.
“Plant Talk with Dave Decock” has been the longest running show in KFGO history! And, will continue after Dave leaves…
For the 2027 growing season, “Plant Talk” will have a new expert – NDSU Extension’s Horticulturist, Don Kinzler. Don says, “My mother brought me out to the garden when I was 5 years old…and I never left.”(Hear his announcement below!)
“Plant Talk” can be heard on Thursdays during the growing season (late April to early October) from 1-2pm. Listeners are invited to call or text the show to ask lawn and garden questions.
Don’s first appearance will be during a special “Holiday” edition of Plant Talk on Wednesday, November 25, 2026 from 1-2pm. Listeners are invited to call-in with “real tree” or houseplant questions.
KFGO is looking forward to continuing this long programming tradition with Don Kinzler!
