Michael James Carriveau, 83, of West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in West Fargo, ND. Mike was born May 5, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN to John and Genevieve (Dyrdahl) Carriveau and was one of nine children. He graduated from West Fargo High School in 1961.
Mike was united in marriage to Rose on October 2, 1965, in West Fargo spending more than fifty years together. He made his career in the construction industry and was a volunteer fireman for 35 years. Once retired, he was unable to sit still and went back into the workforce moving cars for Enterprise Rentals until the fall of 2025.
Family and friends were important to Mike. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and the neighborhood children who made their way to his porch…where candy and snacks were abundant.
Mike is survived by his two sons Timothy (Jennifer) of Mankato, MN and Neal of Fargo; six grandchildren: Kyle, Kaylynn (Alex), Whitney (Pat), Hannah, Molly, and Sophie; two great grandchildren Hayden and Kennedy; siblings Jane, Julie, Tom (Leslie), Jim (Lori); sister-in-law Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his wife Rose, his siblings Patty, Jeff, John, and Mark, and granddaughter Hailey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10am with visitation one hour prior at West Funeral Home, West Fargo. Lunch will be held immediately following his service at the West Fargo Rural Fire Department, 106 First St., West Fargo, ND. We look forward to seeing you and hearing stories about Mike…and for his fellow Bison fans there is a tv at the fire hall.
