FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — An online fundraiser has been started for the family of Ian Frye, the local musician who was killed in a crash involving a vehicle fleeing from a traffic stop for speeding.
The Christine man was killed early Sunday on County Road 81 south of Fargo when his vehicle was t-boned by 19-year-old Cornelio Vasquez IV of Grand Forks, who had earlier been clocked going 109 in a 55.
Vasquez was arrested Tuesday for homicide while fleeing law enforcement, manslaughter, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Frye, 49, leaves behind a wife and four kids. He also recently became a first time grandpa.
His family says he was a gifted piano player who turned that passion into his own studio, Heathens Music Lab in Fargo. Frye was also a part of multiple jam bands.
Donations will help with funeral and memorial expenses, household bills, and other immediate financial needs.
