(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks drop game three of their four game series against the Sioux Falls Canaries, now sitting just a half game above the Canaries in the West. The RedHawks would give up 12 of the Canaries 13 runs in just two innings. Fargo-Moorhead would start right hander Edinson Batista. Sioux Falls would give the ball to right hander Garrett Martin.
Fargo-Moorhead struck first in the bottom of the first inning, starting the game off with back to back doubles. Eric Filia’s double would drive in a run and give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead. Then with two outs in the inning Matt Kroon would hit an RBI double that would bring Filia in to score.
Sioux Falls would get one run back in the top of the second coming from an Anthony Hall RBI single.
The game would break open in the top of the third where the Canaries would put up seven runs. Mike Hart tied the game up with an RBI single to plate the first run of the inning. Michael Curialle would drive in the next two runs with a single, then Anthony Hall would bring him in with an RBI triple. TJ Racherbaumer would drive Hall in to score with an RBI single to give the Canaries a 6-2 lead. Then with Hall still on first, Joe Vos would hit a two-run home run to give Sioux Falls a six run lead.
The RedHawks would find themselves in more trouble in the top of the fifth inning. Josh Rehwaldt would bring a run in to score with a double to start the runs for Sioux Falls in the inning. With the bases loaded Michael Curialle would tally three more RBI’s when he cleared the bases with a three RBI double. Anthony Hall would drive Curialle in with an RBI single and the Canaries would lead 13-2.
Fargo-Moorhead would score one more in the fifth and one more in the seventh, both coming from sacrifice flies from Tucupita Marcano and Tripp Clark respectively.
RedHawks starter Edinson Batista would go just 2.1 innings, giving up 8 runs on 9 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5. Batista would be charges with the loss. Canaries starter Garrett Martin would tally 6.0 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Martin would grab the win.
