GDANSK, June 30 (Reuters) – Kongsberg Gruppen will provide its defense system to Kuwait in a deal with Raytheon under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales programme, the Norwegian technology company said on Tuesday.
The contract for deliveries of Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) is worth around $400 million for the company, it said.
• NASAMS, a mobile defence system developed in cooperation with Raytheon, will help Kuwait protect its population and infrastructure against threats from the air, Kongsberg said.
• Last week, Kuwait faced missile and drone strikes, which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said were sent in response to U.S. strikes against Iran.
• NASAMS has been used by 15 other countries, data on the company’s website shows.
