(KNFL/KFGO) – After a 7-4 loss against Winnipeg to open the series Friday night, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were looking to even the series Saturday night to force a rubber game against the Goldeyes. The RedHawks were also looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Ray-Patrick Didder would blast a solo home run to start the scoring. Winnipeg would score two more runs in the bottom of the 4th, as Roby Enriquez drove in a run on an RBI double, and Keshawn Lynch would drive in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 Goldeyes.
The RedHawks would score a run on a throwing error in the top of the 5th, but would quickly surrender four runs in the bottom of the inning. Jiandido Tromp hit an RBI single to start the scoring in the inning. Then, RedHawks starting pitcher, Wyatt Cheney, would give up two bases-loaded walks. That would lead to a pitching change as Matt Walker would be on in relief, and he would end up hitting Ray-Patrick Didder with the bases loaded, scoring another run. It would be 7-1 Goldeyes after five innings.
The RedHawks would chip away in the top of the 6th, as Colby Wilkerson, and Aiden Byrne would hit RBI singles to make it a 7-3 game. Then, Cole Yearsley would hit a 2-run single and advance to 3rd base on a throwing error, making it 7-5.
But, just like last night, Winnipeg would deliver the dagger in the bottom of the 8th, as Max Murphy, and Keshawn Lynch would hit RBI singles to help Winnipeg win 9-5.
The RedHawks lose the series, and are now on a four-game losing streak. With a record now of 17-21, Fargo-Moorhead is a half game back of 3rd place in the West Division, trailing the Sioux City Explorers.
The series finale is Sunday afternoon, as the RedHawks look to avoid the sweep. The pregame show is set for 12:40 PM on AM 740 The FAN KNFL Fargo/107.3 FM, 740thefan.com, and the 740 The FAN mobile app.
