GRANT VALLEY TOWNSHIP, MN (KFGO) – A 65-year-old Bemidji man died Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle just west of the city, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency personnel responded to a report of a pedestrian crash on Division Street Northwest in Grant Valley Township at approximately 10:43 p.m.
First responders performed lifesaving measures on the pedestrian, identified as Floyd Cloud, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, 56-year-old Robert Ortez of Bemidji, remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement. Authorities said there were no signs of impairment.
The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting the sheriff’s office with crash reconstruction. The Bemidji Police Department, North Country First Responders, and Bemidji Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
