CASS LAKE, Minn (KFGO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office in central Minnesota says three women were rescued from the water after their boat drifted away on the south side of steamboat lake near the town of Cass Lake.
The sheriff’s office says a woman swam to a resort and told resort guests that two other women were stranded in the water. Deputies say that the three women were swimming in the lake and didn’t anchor the boat. High winds pushed the boat away. A fisherman who noticed the unoccupied boat floating in the water and searched for the women along with the resort guests.
The two women were found and brought to shore where they were treated, along with the woman who swam to the resort, for minor injuries including water intake and exhaustion. All three women were in their 20s from Minneapolis, they were not wearing life jackets while swimming.
