Ardis was born March 11, 1931, in Barnesville, Minnesota. She attended District #21 County School, then Comstock School, and later graduated from Moorhead High School.
Ardis worked at Waterman’s in Moorhead before marrying Loren C. Rosenfeldt on November 16, 1950, in Baker, Minnesota. The couple made their home on Loren’s family farm, two miles southeast of Sabin, where they raised their five children – two sons and three daughters.
Ardis was a devoted homemaker and was actively involved in her children’s lives, including serving as a den mother for her son Scott’s Cub Scout troop. She had a passion for ceramics and taught classes from her basement for many years before opening a shop in Sabin. She also offered porcelain doll-making classes and had many happy and devoted students. Ardis was an avid card player and for many years she would meet weekly with her friends, taking turns to host. They all missed it so much, they resumed playing many years later.
Ardis also sold Avon products for many years and took great pride in her work, earning recognition as a member of the Avon President’s Club.
She was active in the Clay County Fair in Barnesville, where she served as superintendent of the Open Class Ceramics Department and later in the Culinary Department.
In 1980, Ardis and Loren received a contract with The Forum in Fargo to bulk deliver newspapers to route carriers throughout Fargo and Moorhead. She also assisted her sons in delivering cabinetry nationwide for their respective businesses.
Ardis was a member of the Sabin Lioness Club, the Eagles Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin. She loved sewing and created many beautiful quilts, wall hangings, and fleece tie blankets for family and friends.
Ardis is survived by her children: Deborah Rosenfeldt of Moorhead; David (Mary) Rosenfeldt of Moorhead; Scott (LaRae) Rosenfeldt of Moorhead; and Lisa Rosenfeldt of Fargo; two sisters, Carol Thompson of Moorhead and Muriel Ferris of Sacramento, California; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; her parents, Alvin and Jenny Dickelman; her daughter, Diane (Don) Poehls; two brothers, Daryl and Donald; two sisters, Jeanette Kava and Virginia Grafton; and her daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Rosenfeldt.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
