FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – Fargo AMVETS will display new artwork on the outside of its downtown facility.
Local artist Kim Jore did all four existing murals outside AMVETS, with each representing a branch of the military. Those were put up in 2025.
Jore was then commissioned by the Jon Greenley family to do a fifth “Freedom is not Free” mural, which was unveiled to the public on Thursday evening.
Greenley was a United States Air Force First Lieutenant killed in South Vietnam in an air crash. He is listed as Killed in Action/Body not recovered.
Jore says this painting process has been just as exhilarating as the first four.
“It’s awesome to do your work in public – people that would come to the restaurant (Rustica), or my studio, would watch me as I paint,” she explained. “Seeing the process is an amazing thing that people like to watch.”
The new mural will be placed above the AMVETS patio, and it will be officially installed Friday morning.
