(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo Force was looking to finish the series Saturday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Fargo entered the game at Scheels Arena with a 2-1 Game Series lead. However, for the third time this series and for the third straight game, the winner would be decided in overtime.
Arseni Marchenko would give the Fargo Force a 1-0 lead with a controversial goal at 6:38 in the first period. The goal was reviewed and upheld after initially being challenged as goalie interference. In the 2nd period, Stampede’s Noah Mannausau would tie the game at 1-1 with a goal at 16:09. It was Mannausau’s first playoff goal this season. Neither team would score in the 3rd period, forcing an overtime showdown for the third time this playoff series.
Thomas Zocco of the Sioux Falls Stampede would score the game winning goal during a powerplay at 12:04 in overtime. The series is now tied two games a piece.
Sioux Falls was 1 for 6 in Powerplays with 53 shots on goal. Fargo was 0 for 3 in power plays with 48 shots on goal.
The Fargo Force and Sioux Falls Stampede will play a deciding Game 5 on Tuesday May 12th with the winner moving on to the Clark Cup Final.
