(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo Force were looking to put away the Sioux City Musketeers tonight in Game 4 of the best-of-five series in the Western Conference Semis, after Sioux City extended the series thanks to an overtime winner last night. Fargo had a 2-1 lead in the series entering tonight.
Gavin Garry would start the scoring early for Sioux City at the 3:57 mark of the 1st period, getting his 3rd goal of the postseason, while being assisted by Kyle O’Leary. The Force would respond thanks to Saxton Tess, as he put home his 2nd goal of the series, while being assisted by Brooks Cullen, and Bryce Mattern, at the 15:36 mark of the 1st. The game would be tied at 1 entering the 2nd period, but Stepan Cerny would be called for a tripping penalty at the 5:51 mark of the 2nd, resulting in a Sioux City power play. However, at the 6:51 mark of the 2nd, Nate Delladonna, while being assisted by Brooks Cullen, would get a shorthanded goal, giving Fargo the lead. It would be Delladonna’s 2nd of the series. Sioux City would get an equalizer later in the period, as William Tomko would tie the game on an unassisted goal at the 16:41 mark of the 2nd. It would be tied at 2 after the 2nd, and 3rd periods, resulting in an overtime period for the 2nd straight game. No one would score in the 1st OT frame, so there would be a 2nd OT frame. At the 8:53 mark of the 2nd overtime period, Gavin Uhlenkamp, the Wisconsin commit, would win it for Fargo. He would be assisted by Graham Jones, and Garrett Lindberg, who both got their 4th assist of the series. Uhlenkamp would have 5 goals total in the series, as the Fargo Force would win 3-2 in Double OT, to take the series 3-1 over Sioux City, to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
Goaltender for Fargo, Ajay White, had another stellar night, stopping 24 of 26 Sioux City shots. Jack Fickthorn of Sioux City, made 31 saves out of 34 total Fargo shots. Neither team would get a powerplay goal in the game, as Fargo would go o/1, and Sioux City would go 0/2.
The Fargo Force will now face the winner of the series featuring the Sioux Falls Stampede, and the Lincoln Stars. Lincoln has a 2-1 lead in that best-of-5 series. Fargo can find out who they are playing in the Conference Finals as soon as tomorrow night, or as late as Tuesday night, which is when a potential game 5 will take place if Sioux Falls wins Game 4 tomorrow.
